Staff Engineer, Full‑Stack
(with Infrastructure Responsibilities)
Remote (US Based)
At Global Emancipation Network (GEN), our mission is to end human trafficking by bringing the power of technology, data, and partnerships to the fight. We build tools that help investigators, analysts, and frontline organizations identify trafficking patterns, disrupt criminal networks, and assist survivors. Working with law enforcement, NGOs, and public‑sector partners, we focus on practical solutions that advance real‑world impact. Here, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers and domain experts who care deeply about safety, privacy, and responsible technology. We value calm, clear execution, strong documentation, and thoughtful collaboration in a remote environment where wellness and integrity are part of how we deliver. About the Role We’re seeking a seasoned full‑stack engineer who can ship reliable software end‑to‑end and keep our infrastructure orderly and dependable. You’ll design features, implement services and interfaces, maintain CI/CD, manage cloud resources with infrastructure‑as‑code, and uphold sound security and observability practices. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning projects across the stack and supporting a mission that matters. What You’ll Do Build and sustain complex systems: web apps, APIs (REST/GraphQL), event‑driven services, and background jobs, from design to production. Own high‑impact projects: lead initiatives, gather input, break down work, and communicate progress with technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Operate reliable infrastructure: CI/CD, environment configuration, deployment automation, and staging/production parity. Manage cloud resources: Terraform/CloudFormation with AWS (EC2/ECS/EKS/Lambda, S3, RDS) and Docker. Uphold observability: logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, alerting; participate in on‑call and post‑incident reviews. Maintain data foundations: schemas, migrations, indexing, and performance tuning for PostgreSQL and Redis. Lead on security: least‑privilege IAM, secrets management, dependency auditing, timely patching; secure patterns for sensitive data. Collaborate across teams: partner with product, data, and AI groups; contribute design docs, reviews, and clear written communication. Improve quality: write tests across the stack; support safe releases and rollbacks; document systems for continuity. What We’re Looking For 5–8+ years building and operating production systems with strong ownership. Backend: Python (FastAPI/Django/Flask) or Go/Node; async patterns; queues (Celery/RQ/SQS). Frontend: React with TypeScript; component‑driven development; routing/state; Vite/Webpack. Datastores: PostgreSQL (strong SQL) and Redis; data warehousing familiarity is a plus. Cloud & operations: AWS, Terraform/CloudFormation, Docker; CI/CD (GitHub Actions/GitLab CI/CircleCI); release strategies (blue/green, canary). Observability: CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, Sentry or similar. Security & fundamentals: HTTP, auth (OAuth/OIDC/JWT), security headers, OWASP risks, RBAC, secrets and key rotation. Communication: clear writing, thoughtful design docs, patient collaboration. Reliability mindset: comfort with on‑call, incident response, and postmortems. Nice to Have Data pipelines (Airflow/Dagster), stream processing (Kafka/Kinesis). Experience supporting ML services in production (feature stores, model serving, GPUs). Background in GovTech, public safety, or nonprofit environments. Technologies We Use Python, FastAPI, React + TypeScript PostgreSQL, Redis AWS, Terraform, Docker GitHub, GitHub Actions, Sentry, Grafana Compensation and Benefits Salary: $125,000–$150,000 per year (DOE and experience). Non‑restrictive PTO. Full benefits. Location, Work Model Remote (US‑based) with occasional travel for team meetings. Equal Opportunity and Inclusion Global Emancipation Network welcomes candidates from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences. We hire based on qualifications and organizational need and are committed to an inclusive environment where every team member can thrive. AI Specialist, Large Language Models and Machine Learning
Remote (US Based)
At Global Emancipation Network (GEN), our mission is to end human trafficking by applying technology, data, and partnerships to support those on the front lines. We build systems that help investigators and analysts surface leads faster, understand complex patterns, and act with greater confidence. We believe responsible, auditable AI belongs in service of safety and the public good. You’ll join a team that values careful engineering, responsible model use, and clear evaluation. We work closely with domain experts and partner organizations, placing privacy, security, and measurable outcomes at the center of our approach. About the Role We’re hiring an AI specialist to design, evaluate, and deploy LLM/ML systems that support investigative workflows and sensitive data environments. You’ll build retrieval and classification pipelines, tune models where appropriate, and ship services that are measurable, safe, and maintainable. What You’ll Do Build applied LLM systems: RAG, classification, summarization, entity extraction, and triage workflows for real investigative needs. Construct data pipelines: ingest, clean, label corpora; curate evaluation sets reflecting operational realities. Select and tune models: prompt and system design; SFT, DPO, LoRA/QLoRA as justified; manage tokenization, quantization, and distillation trade‑offs. Develop retrieval: chunking strategies, embeddings, vector stores, hybrid search (BM25 + dense), reranking. Create evaluation frameworks: task‑specific metrics, regression tests, adversarial, bias, and safety assessments; offline and online evaluation with guardrails. Ship to production: serve with vLLM/TGI/Triton/Ray Serve; tune GPU utilization, batching, caching; add feature flags, A/B testing, telemetry, and drift monitoring. Safety and governance: careful PII handling and redaction; audit logs; usage policies and content filters with jailbreak resistance.
